Stone's latest, Enjoy By 05.30.16 Tangerine IPA.

If you're a fan of IPAs, you might want to hurry and find the latest brew released by Stone Brewing. And you better hop to it if you want the hoppy flavor they bottled because -- well, because it's not going to be around long at all.

Stone, based in San Diego, has been around since 1996 and is a well-established brewery as the nation's 10th largest craft brewer. If you're not an IPA -- India Pale Ale -- drinker, then you've probably not put a bottle or glass full of a Stone brew to your lips.

Its latest creation in Stone's "Enjoy By" series is 05.30.16. If that looks like a date on a calendar, that's because it is. And that's why, if you're a Stone or IPA fan, you need to hustle it up and grab one. Or six, if you're lucky enough to find any in this limited release brew. In fact, it was on tap at Flynn's on Maxwell in Greenwood not too many days ago, but that keg ran dry before the weekend.

OK, so what's so great about it? Again, it's an IPA for one. But this one is Tangerine IPA. The nose and the palate will detect the citrus. Pour it in a glass to truly appreciate it and its 12 -- yes 12 -- different hops, though. It has a rich golden color and an inviting creamy white foam on top. Take in the aroma, get a mouthful and indulge the palate with hops and fruits finished off by a tangerine one-two punch. Not a heavy punch, mind you.

Don't mistake Stone's "Enjoy By" series as another "born on" date-stamped brew; this one carries its name boldly and proudly on the label and is truly intended to have a short shelf-life. As in 37 days. Of course, if you're at all familiar with Stone's "Enjoy By" series you already know that. You know they have you in line waiting for the next specialty brew.

Oh, by the way, you don't want to overdo it with these brews (it's hard to call them beers, you know?) -- if you find any. They come in 22-ounce and 12-ounce bottles, but you might want to share with someone who shares your love of IPAs, especially if you snag a 22-ounce bottle. At 9.4 percent alcohol, this brew is no lightweights.

If you don't find any of the Tangerine IPAs, do not pout. Though with different dates, the Tangerine IPA is slated to be released again July 25 and Oct. 31. That will be preceded by the Stone Enjoy By 07.04.16 IPA, so be on standby for a way to toast the Fourth of July.
