Greenwood School District 50 makes progress on gym
Board picks firm to oversee work on auxiliary facility
|By MICHELLE LAXER|
Greenwood School District 50 continued to make progress on its new Greenwood High School auxiliary gym as the board of trustees settled on a construction firm to oversee the work in a meeting Monday night.
The board unanimously approved for the district to enter into a contract with H.G. Reynolds Co. Inc. as construction manager at risk of the gym project.
Members LeVerne Fuller and Lee Vartanian were absent from Monday's meeting.
The district's new assistant superintendent for business, David Loadholt, said the district received bids from five interested companies.
H.G. Reynolds is one of two bidders with previous experience with the district.
Loadholt said the construction manager at risk will partner with Furman Architects to design the new gym. He explained this process has become more popular and even the preferred method of construction.
