11/14/2012 We must live with choices we make

Sometimes, we take advantage of the freedom of choice. Hurricane Sandy wasn't a choice. It might have been the results of the choices we make. We often neglect the real values of life by the things we do daily. It seems as if we have forgotten life's purpose. Sandy just happened around election time. You think? We seem to put politics, religion, race and sexual orientation ahead of everything. But how far down the line is simply being united, as the name implies? Sodom and Gomorrah had to pay a hefty price because of the choices the majority made. Our country has had a marvelous history. Each person can vote for who he wants, attend any church and pretty much say anything.
My point is, what role are we playing in the "united" part? It seems as if some of us are like the Israelites, God's chosen people. Some of the Israelites thought they had a free pass to Heaven simply because of who they were. Choices will be used as a constructive tool instead of a destructive weapon. After the 9/11 tragedy, I noticed signs everywhere, "God Bless America," but it soon wore off. Each person shall be responsible for his own choices and who knows, maybe we won't have to encounter another Sandy. So, choose who you want, go where you must, do what you will, but remember, we live with the choices we make. We were put on this earth to make our own fate. This is not the end. Our last day is just the beginning.

...and let's not forget the simple fact that we are not Israelites but Americans, who vote!

You might be well-intentioned, but you have terrible theology. God does not send hurricanes to punish people. Hurricanes are a product of the weather systems that keep our planet functioning. Sometimes they just happen to move into areas where people live.
