Days after someone told police that God wanted him to "cleanse" Ware Shoals, two more people have been arrested after posting to social media threats involving the schools in Ware Shoals.
Leon Arthur "Buddy" Kay III, 41, of 17 Wood St., Ware Shoals, and April Green were both arrested Tuesday morning by the Ware Shoals Police Department, said Chief Harry Irick.
Between 9 and 10 p.m. Monday, Irick said he got a call from the school safety officer.
"He'd been notified of some more threats against the school," he said.
After speaking with solicitors and judges, Irick was able to get a warrant for one person's arrest at about 1:30 a.m. -- but he was notified of yet another threat and arrested another person at about 6 a.m., he said.
"I don't know what these people are doing, but I've got a lot of angry parents," he said.
Kay was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. and Green at about 6 a.m., he said. He said they were being charged with unlawful communication, disturbing schools and high and aggravated breach of peace.
The person arrested in the Friday incident, 27-year-old Rodney Lee Rogers Jr. of Ware Shoals, remains in custody on other charges.
After the night's events, Irick said he was grateful for the help of the Greenwood County and Laurens County sheriffs' offices.
"Right now I'm the only officer on the streets here in Ware Shoals," he said. "We've got an eight or nine officer department -- and about half of them were out there last night."
